Cold Spell
Delgosha is pleased to announce first solo exhibition by Saeid Gholami by the name of “Coldspell.”
His paintings reveal a painter who obsessively finds joy in applying paint on every surface and his subjects, however simple are about history and process in art.
Gholami’s work possess a transient quality. The figures are placed in the monochromatic void of the surface and they may disappear in any moment and only leave a trace of their presence on the canvas. These Figures stare into the space and give a sense of reflection and introspection. His bodies and their hidden play with light and shadow suggest a struggle much reminiscent to the act of painting itself.
The cold and ethereal washes of colors along with his free and lucid brushstrokes create organic forms that may shake and disappear at any second.
Despite the prevailing presence of the human figure in his work he’s much more interested in the form itself. Wholes and parts of the body that give him a chance to think about space and geometrics in painting. These paintings are after something more than the everyday experience. In pursuit of an essence devoid of narrative, a fragile image, perhaps alluding to a memory or the idea of something.
Painting to him is reaching silence. A silence that accepting it is the way to carry on with painting.
He has participated in four solo and numerous group shows in his hometown, Shahroud. He had also shown in “Badha” group show in Delgosha
